North Johns was a thriving mining town at the beginning of the 20th century, when more than 2000 people lived in and around the community. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.26. The population was evenly distributed in regard to age, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.9 males. The median income for a household in the town was $23,750, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $35,375 versus $7,083 for females.
