'''New Cumberland''' is a [[borough (Pennsylvania)|borough]] in the easternmost region of [[Cumberland County, Pennsylvania|Cumberland County]], [[Pennsylvania]], United States. New Cumberland was incorporated on March 21, 1831. New Cumberland is part of the [[Harrisburg–Carlisle metropolitan statistical area]].

==Geography==

It is bordered to the south by [[Yellow Breeches Creek]], across which is [[York County, Pennsylvania|York County]] and the [[Capital City Airport (Pennsylvania)|Capital City Airport]]. To the west is [[Lower Allen Township, Pennsylvania|Lower Allen Township]], and to the north is the borough of [[Lemoyne, Pennsylvania|Lemoyne]]. New Cumberland is situated along the southern edge of the [[Cumberland Valley]].

The population density was {{convert|4,389.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 3,417 housing units at an average density of {{convert|2,041.0|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}. The racial makeup of the borough was 97.20% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.64% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.10% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.72% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.05% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.41% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.88% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.13% of the population.

There were 3,301 households, out of which 25.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.9% were non-families. 33.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.84.

In the borough the population was spread out, with 21.2% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $44,783, and the median income for a family was $56,138. Males had a median income of $38,438 versus $27,964 for females. About 2.6% of families and 3.6% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 4.3% of those under age 18 and 2.7% of those age 65 or over.
