==Geography==
The city is in southwestern Muskegon County, bordered to the north by [[Muskegon, Michigan|Muskegon]] and to the south by the city of [[Norton Shores, Michigan|Norton Shores]], with a small area of unincorporated [[Muskegon Township, Michigan|Muskegon Township]] on the east side. The racial makeup of the city was 16.0% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 78.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.1% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.4% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 3.8% from two or more races. The racial makeup of the city was 17.69% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 77.77% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.45% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.25% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.63% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.19% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.52% of the population.
