It consists of two species of glabrous or puberulous, creeping, rhizomatous [[herb]]s with white axillary [[flower]]s with funnel-shaped [[Petal#Corolla|corolla]]s. They prefer mildly acidic soils, growing in woods near [[pine]]s, [[Tsuga|hemlock]] or mossy hummocks.
