The [[population density]] was {{convert|2540.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 790 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1179.1|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 90.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.2% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.6% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.4% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 6.6% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.4% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 23.1% of the population.

The median age in the city was 40.2 years. 24.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.2% were from 25 to 44; 24.5% were from 45 to 64; and 20.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 46.4% male and 53.6% female.

There were 793 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1,180.3|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the city was 86.24% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.11% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.38% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.66% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.11% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 11.41% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.09% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 22.06% of the population.

The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.9 males.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the city was $28,710, and the median income for a family was $34,900. Males had a median income of $26,534 versus $18,672 for females.
