Milltown was laid out in 1839. The [[population density]] was {{convert|580.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 396 housing units at an average density of {{convert|280.9|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the town was 97.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.4% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 1.8% from two or more races.

There were 340 households, of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.1% had a male householder with no wife present, and 35.0% were non-families. 32.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.02.

[[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.54% of the population.

There were 369 households, out of which 29.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 10.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
