==Geography==
The city is located in east-central Jefferson County, south of the [[Interstate 64]] and [[Interstate 65]] junction. It is {{convert|7|mi|0}} southeast of [[downtown Louisville]].

The racial makeup of the city was 78.91% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 18.01% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.24% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.18% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.42% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.24% from two or more races. The average household size was 1.87 and the average family size was 2.64.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 12.6% under the age of 18, 16.6% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 25.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females, there were 83.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $39,688, and the median income for a family was $56,250. Males had a median income of $30,809 versus $24,583 for females.
