The racial makeup of the city was 93.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 2.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 3.7% from two or more races.

McCracken High School was closed through school unification. Part of the 1973 film ''[[Paper Moon (film)|Paper Moon]]'' was shot in the McCracken area. All of the major building “filming locations”, including the hotel and cafe, are gone, and today are empty lots.
