Winter weather, like all of the West River region is dominated by the extreme temperature conflicts between warm chinook winds that bring temperatures above 50 F on an average of seventeen afternoons during the three winter months, and cold Arctic air that brings an average of 19.5 mornings below 0 F. The dryness of the winter limits snowfall and the chinooks further limit snow depth, which exceeds 1 in on only 41.8 days each year. Summer weather is generally very warm, although during dry spells when the upper-level anticyclone moves northward, long periods of sweltering and arid weather may occur: the hottest month was August 1983 with a daily mean of 78.6 F and the hottest temperature on record 110 F on July 2 of 1990. {{Weather box | width = auto | collapsed = | single line = yes | location = Manderson 3 NE, South Dakota (1971-2000), extremes 1949-2001 | Jan record high F = 66 | Feb record high F = 70 | Mar record high F = 82 | Apr record high F = 93 | May record high F = 95 | Jun record high F = 105 | Jul record high F = 110 | Aug record high F = 104 | Sep record high F = 102 | Oct record high F = 93 | Nov record high F = 83 | Dec record high F = 69 | year record high F = 110 | Jan high F = 34.8 | Feb high F = 40.6 | Mar high F = 48.3 | Apr high F = 58.3 | May high F = 68.0 | Jun high F = 78.7 | Jul high F = 86.8 | Aug high F = 87.0 | Sep high F = 77.2 | Oct high F = 64.0 | Nov high F = 46.4 | Dec high F = 37.6 | year high F = 60.6 | Jan mean F = 22.9 | Feb mean F = 28.4 | Mar mean F = 36.7 | Apr mean F = 45.9 | May mean F = 56.2 | Jun mean F = 66.3 | Jul mean F = 73.1 | Aug mean F = 72.6 | Sep mean F = 62.2 | Oct mean F = 49.7 | Nov mean F = 34.2 | Dec mean F = 25.6 | year mean F = 47.8 | Jan low F = 11.0 | Feb low F = 16.2 | Mar low F = 25.0 | Apr low F = 33.5 | May low F = 44.4 | Jun low F = 53.8 | Jul low F = 59.4 | Aug low F = 58.1 | Sep low F = 47.2 | Oct low F = 35.3 | Nov low F = 21.9 | Dec low F = 13.6 | year low F = 35.0 | Jan record low F = −28 | Feb record low F = −31 | Mar record low F = −18 | Apr record low F = 5 | May record low F = 23 | Jun record low F = 33 | Jul record low F = 38 | Aug record low F = 37 | Sep record low F = 19 | Oct record low F = −8 | Nov record low F = −19 | Dec record low F = −37 | year record low F =−37 | precipitation colour = green | Jan precipitation inch = 0.39 | Feb precipitation inch = 0.46 | Mar precipitation inch = 1.32 | Apr precipitation inch = 2.20 | May precipitation inch = 3.16 | Jun precipitation inch = 3.18 | Jul precipitation inch = 2.58 | Aug precipitation inch = 1.87 | Sep precipitation inch = 1.51 | Oct precipitation inch = 1.52 | Nov precipitation inch = 0.70 | Dec precipitation inch = 0.41 | Jan snow inch = 6.9 | Feb snow inch = 6.1 | Mar snow inch = 10.8 | Apr snow inch = 3.5 | May snow inch = 0.4 | Jun snow inch = 0.0 | Jul snow inch = 0.0 | Aug snow inch = 0.0 | Sep snow inch = trace | Oct snow inch = 3.5 | Nov snow inch = 6.1 | Dec snow inch = 7.0 | year snow inch = 44.3 | unit precipitation days = 0.01 inch | Jan precipitation days = 4.5 | Feb precipitation days = 4.6 | Mar precipitation days = 7.1 | Apr precipitation days = 9.1 | May precipitation days = 10.6 | Jun precipitation days = 10.0 | Jul precipitation days = 7.8 | Aug precipitation days = 6.1 | Sep precipitation days = 5.9 | Oct precipitation days = 5.5 | Nov precipitation days = 4.9 | Dec precipitation days = 5.5 | unit snow days = 0.1 inch | Jan snow days = 3.8 | Feb snow days = 2.8 | Mar snow days = 3.6 | Apr snow days = 1.6 | May snow days = 0.1 | Jun snow days = 0.0 | Jul snow days = 0.0 | Aug snow days = 0.0 | Sep snow days = 0.0 | Oct snow days = 1.1 | Nov snow days = 2.9 | Dec snow days = 3.8 | source = }} ==Demographics== As of the census of 2000, there were 626 people, 109 households, and 97 families residing in the CDP.
