Luther was formerly served by a branch of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad which ran from [[Madrid, Iowa|Madrid]] to [[Boone, Iowa|Boone]]. The line was trimmed back from Boone to Luther in the 1960s.
