It is bordered to the south by [[Gaston County, North Carolina|Gaston County]]. [[North Carolina Highway 16]], a four-lane freeway, passes through the east side of the community, leading northwest {{convert|24|mi}} to [[Newton, North Carolina|Newton]] and southeast {{convert|17|mi}} to [[Charlotte, North Carolina|Charlotte]]. It is paralleled by old Highway 16 (NC-16 Business), a two-lane road that runs through the center of Lowesville. Access to new Highway 16 is only from [[North Carolina Highway 73]] at the northern end of the CDP or from NC-16 Business in [[Lucia, North Carolina|Lucia]], {{convert|2|mi|0}} south of the center of Lowesville. NC 73 forms the northern edge of the CDP; it leads east {{convert|9|mi|0}} to [[Interstate 77 in North Carolina|Interstate 77]] in northern [[Huntersville, North Carolina|Huntersville]] and west {{convert|15|mi}} to [[Lincolnton, North Carolina|Lincolnton]], the Lincoln [[county seat]]. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.3 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $51,333, and the median income for a family was $53,000. Males had a median income of $36,316 versus $24,280 for females.
