==History==
The village was founded by Peter Lennon. He got the [[Grand Trunk Western Railroad]] routed through the settlement and a depot built there. He built a grain elevator, which was followed by other businesses. A post office was established in Genesee County in July 1880 with Lennon as the first postmaster. Of the village's area, {{convert|0.68|sqmi|sqkm|2}} and 429 residents are within [[Venice Township, Michigan|Venice Township]] in [[Shiawassee County, Michigan|Shiawassee County]]. The [[population density]] was {{convert|561.5|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 194 housing units at an average density of {{convert|213.2|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 94.5% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.4% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 2.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.0% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.8% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.0% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.5% of the population.

There were 181 households, of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 26.5% were non-families. 19.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The racial makeup of the village was 98.26% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.39% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.39% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.97% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.13% of the population.

There were 179 households, out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.9% were non-families. 14.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.0% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.0 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $48,583, and the median income for a family was $50,227. Males had a median income of $40,972 versus $30,833 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the village was $17,148.  About 2.1% of families and 5.2% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including none of those under age 18 and 10.7% of those age 65 or over.
