As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 5,561 people, 2,080 households, and 1,591 families residing in the township.  The population density was {{convert|257.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 2,373 housing units at an average density of {{convert|109.7|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the township was 96.04% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.50% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.07% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.88% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.11% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.51% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.88% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.70% of the population.

The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the township the population was spread out, with 27.1% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 100.0 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $60,893, and the median income for a family was $69,440. Males had a median income of $46,698 versus $31,597 for females.
