Lake Almanor West is located at {{coord|40|14|7|N|121|12|15|W|type:city}} (40.235246, -121.204180),<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> along the southwest shore of [[Lake Almanor]].  It is locally referred to as "West Shore."

The population density was {{convert|118.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The population was spread out, with 12 people (4.4%) under the age of 18, 3 people (1.1%) aged 18 to 24, 16 people (5.9%) aged 25 to 44, 99 people (36.7%) aged 45 to 64, and 140 people (51.9%) who were 65 years of age or older. The population density was {{convert|143.0|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 367 housing units at an average density of {{convert|159.5|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.78% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.30% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.91% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.82% of the population.
