The City is divided into 4 Wards, with a councilperson representing each ward and an additional councilperson at large. Citizens of Jonesboro also vote for their Clerk-Treasurer and City Attorney. The Mayor and the Council work together to govern the city.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.1% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.5% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.6% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.2% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.4% of the population.

The King's Academy is a K-12 Christian school affiliated with the [[Association of Christian Schools International|ACSI]].
