Jamestown had its start in 1846 when E. H. and S. L. ==Geography==
The village is located on [[Missouri Route 87]], approximately {{convert|12|mi}} northeast of [[California, Missouri|California]], the [[county seat]]. According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Jamestown has a total area of {{convert|1.01|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|0.01|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, or 0.70%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2023"/> The village sits on a ridge which drains north toward Factory Creek, southeast into Haldiman Branch, and southwest into Hauck Branch. Factory Creek is an east-flowing direct tributary of the Missouri River, while the two branches flow southeast to [[Moniteau Creek (south central Missouri)|Moniteau Creek]], also a tributary of the Missouri.

The [[population density]] was {{convert|386.0|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 187 housing units at an average density of {{convert|187.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 97.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 2.1% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.0% of the population.

There were 161 households, of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.9% were non-families. 36.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 3.16.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.12% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.79% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.26% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.26% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], and 1.57% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.52% of the population.
