==History==
The Dakota City Land Company laid out Hubbard in 1880.  The town was named after Judge [[Asahel W. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1388.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 89 housing units at an average density of {{convert|523.5|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 91.5% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 2.5% [[Race (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 5.5% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.4% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 5.5% of the population.

There were 80 households, of which 38.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 22.5% were non-families. 16.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.29.

The median age in the village was 35.8 years. 30.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.2% were from 25 to 44; 28.8% were from 45 to 64; and 11.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 49.6% male and 50.4% female.

The racial makeup of the village was 98.72% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], and 1.28% from two or more races.

There were 83 households, out of which 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.52.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 32.5% under the age of 18, 12.0% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 15.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females, there were 116.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.9 males.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the village was $40,938, and the median income for a family was $42,188. Males had a median income of $31,818 versus $20,625 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the village was $15,644. About 8.5% of families and 10.0% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 5.7% of those under the age of eighteen and 10.0% of those 65 or over.
