Hope is located on the northeast shore of [[Lake Pend Oreille]].

The racial makeup of the city was 98.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 1.2% from two or more races.

There were 34 households, of which 35.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 23.5% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.77.

The median age in the city was 47 years. 22.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 12.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 13.9% were from 25 to 44; 38.3% were from 45 to 64; and 12.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 51.2% male and 48.8% female.

The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.75.

==Popular culture==
The town is mentioned in the 2009 video game [[Prototype (video game)|''Prototype'']] as a town which was used by the government to test a virus.
