The population was 494 at the time of the 2020 census.

The area, like Back/Old [[Lawrence, Nassau County, New York|Lawrence]] is unique because its rural affluence is similar in character to the more well known [[North Shore (Long Island)|Gold Coast]] of the [[North Shore (Long Island)|North Shore]] instead of being more urbanized like the rest of the South Shore of Nassau County.

Hewlett Bay Park is usually included as one of the [[Five Towns]] in the southwestern corner of Nassau County. In the context of the Five Towns, "The Hewletts" or "Hewlett" is often used to refer collectively to the hamlet of [[Hewlett, New York|Hewlett]], together with the villages of Hewlett Bay Park, [[Hewlett Harbor, New York|Hewlett Harbor]] and [[Hewlett Neck, New York|Hewlett Neck]]. The population density was {{convert|1,381.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 163 housing units at an average density of {{convert|465.3|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the village was 91.32% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.45% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 3.93% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.86% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.45% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.75% of the population.

There were 157 households, out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 82.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 2.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 11.5% were non-families. 8.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.08 and the average family size was 3.23.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 19.0% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.5 males.

The median income for a household in the village was in excess of $200,000, as is the median income for a family. Males had a median income of over $100,000 versus $43,333 for females. About 1.5% of families and 4.8% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 11.0% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
