==Geography==
According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|36.81|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|35.87|sqmi|sqkm|2}}  is land and {{convert|0.94|sqmi|sqkm|2}} is water.<ref name ="Gazetteer files">{{cite web|title=US Gazetteer files 2010|url=https://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/data/gazetteer2010.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=December 16, 2012}}</ref> It is drained by the Souadabscook Stream and Wheeler Stream. Principle bodies of water include Hermon Pond (462 acres), Tracy Pond (47 acres) and George Pond (49 acres).

Hermon is bordered on the northwest by [[Levant, Maine|Levant]], on the northeast by [[Glenburn, Maine|Glenburn]], on the east by [[Bangor, Maine|Bangor]], on the south by [[Hampden, Maine|Hampden]] and on the west by [[Carmel, Maine|Carmel]]. It is crossed by [[U.S. Route 2 in Maine|U.S. Route 2]] and [[Maine State Route 222]].

The racial makeup of the town was 97.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.4% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.4% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.4% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.1% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.0% from two or more races. The racial makeup of the town was 98.08% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.16% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.29% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.43% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.09% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.92% from two or more races. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $47,206, and the median income for a family was $50,500. Males had a median income of $34,620 versus $23,958 for females.
