Harris Township occupies the northeast part of Menominee County, extending {{convert|24|mi}} from north to south. It is bordered to the east by [[Delta County, Michigan|Delta County]] and to the north by [[Marquette County, Michigan|Marquette County]]. The city of [[Escanaba, Michigan|Escanaba]] is {{convert|16|mi}} to the east via US Routes 2 and 41, while the village of [[Powers, Michigan|Powers]] is {{convert|6|mi|0}} to the west. [[Menominee, Michigan|Menominee]], the [[county seat]], is {{convert|58|mi}} to the south by road.

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Harris Township has a total area of {{convert|143.3|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|143.2|sqmi|km2}} are land and {{convert|0.1|sqmi|km2|1}}, or 0.10%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022" /> The [[Cedar River (Menominee County, Michigan)|Cedar River]] and its tributaries drain the southern third of the township, except for along the eastern border, where the [[Bark River (Michigan)|Bark River]] has its source. The [[Ford River (Michigan)|Ford River]] drains the northern part of the township, while its tributary [[Tenmile Creek (Michigan)|Tenmile Creek]] drains the central part. The entire township drains to [[Lake Michigan]].
