[[Pennsylvania Route 879]] leads east {{Convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Curwensville, Pennsylvania|Curwensville]] and {{convert|12|mi}} to [[Clearfield, Pennsylvania|Clearfield]], the [[county seat]].

As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 441 people, 166 households, and 119 families residing in the borough. The population density was {{convert|1,486|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 177 housing units at an average density of {{convert|596.4|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the borough was 99.77% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.23% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]]. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.68% of the population.

Out of the total of 166 households, 42.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.14.

In the borough the population was spread out, with 31.3% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $29,271, and the median income for a family was $34,219. Males had a median income of $26,528 versus $20,179 for females. About 6.2% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 14.8% of those under age 18 and none of those aged 65 or over.
