On 1 January 2006 the municipality had 4,405 inhabitants. The total area is {{convert|151.56|km2|abbr=on}}, giving a [[population density]] of {{convert|29|PD/km2}}.

It is situated in the [[Ardennes]] east of [[Meuse (river)|Meuse]] valley. The western limit of the municipality is the [[France|French]] border.

The municipality consists of the town of Gedinne and eleven villages:
