==Name==
The name, that of a small African antelope, was given to the post office in 1870. The racial makeup of the CDP was 88.97% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 3.68% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.47% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 5.88% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.21% of the population.
