==History==
Gasconade was the original county seat of [[Gasconade County, Missouri]]. The city was [[plat]]ted in 1857. The [[Gasconade Bridge train disaster]] was a rail accident that took place in Gasconade on November 1, 1855, when the Gasconade bridge collapsed under the weight of the O'Sullivan locomotive. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1115.0|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 138 housing units at an average density of {{convert|690.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 99.1% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.4% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], and 0.4% from two or more races.

There were 97 households, of which 23.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.1% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 14.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 41.2% were non-families. 33.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 21.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.89.

The median age in the city was 46.3 years. 23.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17.9% were from 25 to 44; 29.2% were from 45 to 64; and 23.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.5% male and 52.5% female.

The racial makeup of the city was 96.63% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.75% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.12% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 1.50% from two or more races.

There were 105 households, out of which 23.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 16.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 28.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the city the population was spread out, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 81.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $27,404, and the median income for a family was $27,917. Males had a median income of $22,045 versus $18,594 for females.
