Whitford station closed when the railway stopped running circa 1920 and, unlike Garden Home, which became the name of a Portland suburb, Whitford exists today primarily as the name of a [[Beaverton School District|Beaverton]] middle school.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 80.8% [[White Americans|White]], 4.43% [[Asian Americans|Asian]], 1.31% [[African Americans|African American]], 0.58% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 0.31% [[Pacific Islander Americans|Pacific Islander]], 2.37% from [[Other races (U.S. census)|other races]], and 10.2% from two or more races. [[Non-Hispanic whites|Non-hispanic white]] people made up 79.1% of the population.

There were 3,419 households, of which 17% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.2% were married couples living together, 28.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25% were never married. 22.6% of people in the CDP were aged 65 years or older. The median age was 45.8.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.79% White, 3.17% Asian, 0.75% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 0.72% from other races, and 3.00% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] people of any race were 3.20% of the population.

There were 3,048 households, out of which 26.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.8% were non-families. 30.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
