Christopher and Elvina Boje gave land to build the town of Galesburg in 1871.

The racial makeup of the city was 98.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.8% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 0.8% from two or more races. The median income for a household in the city was $32,250, and the median income for a family was $33,500. Males had a median income of $29,000 versus $22,188 for females.
