==Geography==
Fruitvale is in central Mesa County, bordered to the west by the city of Grand Junction and to the east and south by unincorporated [[Clifton, Colorado|Clifton]]. [[Interstate 70]] forms the northern edge of the Fruitvale CDP, and [[U.S. Route 6]] forms the southern edge. The CDP has an area of {{convert|2.9|sqmi}}, all land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>

The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.1 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $44,438, and the median income for a family was $48,920. Males had a median income of $35,500 versus $22,702 for females.
