The 2010 Census showed a population of 4,141, a 72.8% growth from the 2000 Census.{{Citation needed|date=June 2009}} The current city limits have grown northward towards [[Richland, Mississippi|Richland]]. Florence was the 12th fastest growing city in Mississippi at the 2010 Census. The city has grown both eastward and westward and will continue to expand towards the Pearl River, eventually stopping at the Pearl River, which separates Rankin County from [[Hinds County, Mississippi|Hinds County]].

The racial makeup of the city was 85.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 13.1% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.5% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.3% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.7% from two or more races.
