==Geography==
The shape of Estella is irregular. The east end is a rectangle {{convert|6|mi|0}} north to south and {{convert|3|mi|0}} wide. The west end follows the [[Chippewa River (Wisconsin)|Chippewa River]], except for a section which is part of the city of [[Cornell, Wisconsin|Cornell]].

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|82.9|sqkm|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|81.4|sqkm|order=flip}} is land and {{convert|1.6|sqkm|order=flip}}, or 1.89%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010"/>

==History==
The general area that would become Estella was first [[Surveying|surveyed]] in 1847 by a crew working for the U.S. government. The town was named for Laura Estella Flint, the wife of Warren S. As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 469 people, 167 households, and 131 families residing in the town.  The [[population density]] was 14.9 people per square mile (5.7/km<sup>2</sup>).  There were 190 housing units at an average density of 6.0 per square mile (2.3/km<sup>2</sup>).  The racial makeup of the town was 98.93% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.43% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.43% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.21% from two or more races.

There were 167 households, out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.0% were non-families. 18.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.14.

The population was 27.9% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 103.9 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $38,250, and the median income for a family was $42,222. Males had a median income of $28,558 versus $19,667 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the town was $14,237.  About 4.6% of families and 7.1% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 1.5% of those under age 18 and 5.4% of those age 65 or over.
