==History==
Emmons was incorporated in 1899, and named for Henry G. Emmons is southwest of [[Albert Lea, Minnesota|Albert Lea]], along [[U.S. Route 69#Minnesota|U.S. Highway 69]].

The [[population density]] was {{convert|494.9|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 190 housing units at an average density of {{convert|240.5|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 96.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.8% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 2.6% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.6% of the population.

There were 174 households, of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.6% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.67.

The median age in the city was 43.4 years. 23.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.3% were from 25 to 44; 28.8% were from 45 to 64; and 19.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 46.3% male and 53.7% female.

The population density was {{convert|538.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 191 housing units at an average density of {{convert|238.1|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the city was 96.30% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.46% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.23% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 2.31% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.69% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 4.40% of the population.

There were 178 households, out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 22.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.74.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.8 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $37,083, and the median income for a family was $47,813. Males had a median income of $34,583 versus $21,750 for females. About 5.9% of families and 8.0% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 5.8% of those under age 18 and 23.2% of those age 65 or over.
