Elrosa was named after two granddaughters of one of its city council members, Ella and Rose Nichols.

The [[population density]] was {{convert|1241.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 91 housing units at an average density of {{convert|535.3|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 98.6% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] and 1.4% from two or more races.

There were 85 households, of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.6% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 10.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 27.1% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.87.

The median age in the city was 42.5 years. 22.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 11.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17.1% were from 25 to 44; 24.2% were from 45 to 64; and 24.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 51.7% male and 48.3% female.

[[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.41% of the population.

There were 68 households, out of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 2.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 23.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.11.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 26.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 104.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $34,375, and the median income for a family was $42,083. Males had a median income of $22,500 versus $21,563 for females.
