==Geography==
Elmdale is in southwestern Morrison County. It is bordered to the south, east, and west by [[Elmdale Township, Morrison County, Minnesota|Elmdale Township]] and to the north by [[Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota|Swan River Township]]. [[Minnesota State Highway 238]] and Morrison County Road 1 are two of the main routes in the community. Highway 238 leads west-southwest {{convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Upsala, Minnesota|Upsala]] and northeast {{convert|16|mi}} to [[Little Falls, Minnesota|Little Falls]], the Morrison [[county seat]].

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Elmdale has a total area of {{convert|3.44|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, all of it recorded as land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2023"/> The North Two River, a tributary of the Two River, passes through the south side of the city, and Elmdale Creek, a tributary of the Little Two River, passes through the north side. Drainage via the two streams flows east to enter the [[Mississippi River]] {{convert|6|mi|0}} away.

There were 43 households, out of which 20.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 14.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 21.5% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $38,125, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $23,333 versus $28,125 for females.
