It is part of the [[Johnstown, Pennsylvania]] [[Metropolitan Statistical Area]]. ==Geography==
Ehrenfeld is located in south-central Cambria County at {{coord|40|22|20|N|78|46|35|W|type:city}} (40.372273, -78.776394),<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> in the valley of the [[Little Conemaugh River]]. It is bordered to the east by the borough of [[Summerhill, Pennsylvania|Summerhill]] and to the southwest by the borough of [[South Fork, Pennsylvania|South Fork]]. [[U.S. Route 219 in Pennsylvania|U.S. Route 219]] passes through the eastern part of Ehrenfeld, with access from one exit ([[Pennsylvania Route 53]]). US 219 leads north {{convert|10|mi}} to [[Ebensburg, Pennsylvania|Ebensburg]], the [[county seat]], and southwest {{Convert|33|mi}} to [[Somerset, Pennsylvania|Somerset]]. [[Johnstown, Pennsylvania|Johnstown]], the largest city in Cambria County, is {{convert|13|mi}} to the southwest via US 219 and [[Pennsylvania Route 56]].

In 1901, [[General Electric Company]] built the first [[alternating current]] power plant at Ehrenfeld.
