Edinburg was founded in 1887. The [[State Bank of Edinburg]] building, built in 1900, and the [[Edinburg WPA Auditorium|WPA Auditorium]], built 1938, are both on the National Register of Historic Places.

There were 125 housing units at an average density of {{convert|403.2|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 95.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 3.6% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.5% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.6% of the population.

There were 107 households, of which 16.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 0.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 44.9% were non-families. 43.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 24.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.83 and the average family size was 2.47.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.22% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.40% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.40% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.98% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.40% of the population.

There were 118 households, out of which 22.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 35.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 20.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
