The population was 8,269 at the 2010 census and it is located about 4 miles east of downtown [[San Jose, California|San Jose]].

The [[2020 United States census]] reported that East Foothills had a population of 6,803. The population density was {{convert|3,195.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of East Foothills was 40.0% [[White Americans|White]], 1.7% [[African Americans|African American]], 1.3% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 25.7% [[Asian Americans|Asian]], 0.4% [[Pacific Islander Americans|Pacific Islander]], 15.0% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 15.8% from two or more races. The average household size was 3.05. There were 2,063 [[family (U.S. Census)|families]] (76.5% of all households); the average family size was 3.42.

The population was spread out, with 1,820 people (22.0%) under the age of 18, 698 people (8.4%) aged 18 to 24, 1,936 people (23.4%) aged 25 to 44, 2,521 people (30.5%) aged 45 to 64, and 1,294 people (15.6%) who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42.0 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males.
