Dungannon is part of the [[Kingsport-Bristol-Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area]], which is a component of the [[Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area]] &ndash; commonly known as the "[[Tri-Cities, Tennessee|Tri-Cities]]" region.

The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.96.

The age distribution was 24.0% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% 65 or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 89.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.

The median household income was $21,406 and the median family income  was $27,292. Males had a median income of $26,042 versus $16,389 for females. The per capita income for the town was $12,200.
