The '''Dharug National Park''' is a [[state park|protected]] [[national park]] that is located in the [[Central Coast (New South Wales)|Central Coast]] region of [[New South Wales]], in eastern [[Australia]]. The {{convert|14850|ha|adj=on}} national park is situated approximately {{convert|81|km}} north of the [[Sydney]] and {{convert|25|km}} west of {{NSWcity|Gosford}}.

The park contains the [[Great North Road (New South Wales)|Great North Road]], one of the eleven [[UNESCO]] [[World Heritage Site|World Heritage]]{{endash}}listed [[Australian Convict Sites]]. ==Location and features==

The Dharug National Park lies within the [[Sydney Basin]], a major structural unit of [[Permian]] and [[Triassic]] age (270-180&nbsp;million years ago) consisting almost entirely of horizontally bedded [[sedimentary rock]]s. The park lies on the northern margin of the Hornsby Plateau; a subdivision of the Sydney Basin.<ref name=pom/>

The park is full of birds and animals that you can meet during the tour. ==Etymology==
The park derives its name from the [[Indigenous Australians|indigenous]] [[Darug people]], south of the Hawkesbury River, who are not the traditional custodians of the area. It is incorrectly named on the land of the traditional Darkinjung custodians.<ref name=pom/>
