==Geography==
Derma is located in south-central Calhoun County at {{coord|33|51|24|N|89|17|11|W|type:city}} (33.856531, -89.286384).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is bordered to the west by [[Calhoun City, Mississippi|Calhoun City]]. [[Mississippi Highway 8]] runs through the center of town, leading west into Calhoun City and east {{convert|6|mi|0}} to [[Vardaman, Mississippi|Vardaman]].

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|4.6|km2|disp=flip}}, all land.<ref name="Census 2010"/> The [[Yalobusha River]], a tributary of the [[Yazoo River]], passes about one mile south of the town.

The population density was {{convert|909.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 397 housing units at an average density of {{convert|352.9|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the town was 57.67% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 41.45% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.10% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.10% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.10% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.59% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.39% of the population.
