Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.42% of the population. There were 213 households, out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. About 19.2% of families and 22.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 30.5% of those under age 18 and 16.7% of those age 65 or over. The NAACP labeled this town a reactionary town due to its significant involvement in and opposition to the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior set up what he called "freedom schools" in Depew to educate local blacks on how to peacefully gain their right to vote in Creek County. Thus the black community in Depew is rather strong compared to most of the surrounding towns. ==Notable people== * Wayne Cooper, (b. 1942) Western artist and sculptor * [[Calvin C.
