The [[Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railway]] began running through the town in 1881, along the "[[Highland Route]]".<ref>{{cite web| url=http://www.deerparkohio.org/deerpark.htm|title=Deer Park Ohio Historypublisher= City of Deer Park Ohio |access-date=2012-07-15}}</ref> In 1795, following the signing of the [[Treaty of Greenville]] which provided assurances to Ohio settlers that they would be protected from Indian "intrusions", Samuel and Rebecca DeMent Pierson established the first log home in the area near Deer Park.

As of the census of 2020, there were 5,432 people living in the city, for a population density of 6,360.66 people per square mile (2,456.77/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 2,745 housing units.
