The [[Simplot|J. R. Simplot Company]] was founded in 1923 near Declo by 14-year-old entrepreneur [[J.&nbsp;R. Simplot]], who had moved to the area with his family as a toddler. The corporate headquarters for the company are now located in [[Boise, Idaho|Boise]].

The racial makeup of the city was 85.1% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 4.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 9.9% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.9% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 15.2% of the population.
