Of this area, 32.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 49.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 2.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (15.2%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).<ref name=SFSO/> The former municipality is located in the [[Surses]] sub-district of the Albula district.
