==Geography==
Cowarts is located in north-central Houston County at {{Coord|31|11|58|N|85|18|23|W|type:city}} (31.199575, -85.306272).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is bordered to the north and west by the city of [[Dothan, Alabama|Dothan]] and to the southeast by the town of [[Avon, Alabama|Avon]]. A small part of the northern border of Cowarts is with the town of [[Webb, Alabama|Webb]].

[[U.S. Route 84]] passes through the southern part of the town, leading west {{Convert|6|mi|0}} to the center of Dothan and southeast {{Convert|48|mi}} to [[Bainbridge, Georgia]].
