Many of the first White settlers in Coon Valley were Norwegian immigrants. The [[population density]] was {{convert|701.8|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 348 housing units at an average density of {{convert|319.3|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 98.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.1% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.7% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.5% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 0.4% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.7% of the population.

There were 324 households, of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 33.3% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.81.

The median age in the village was 41.3 years. 22.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.4% were from 25 to 44; 23.3% were from 45 to 64; and 21.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 52.5% male and 47.5% female.

The racial makeup of the village was 99.30% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.14% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.42% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.14% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]]. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.28% of the population.

There were 307 households, out of which 27.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.3% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.78.
