As an unincorporated area, Cloverly's boundaries are not officially defined. At the [[2000 United States Census|2000 census]] there were 7,835 people in 2,492 households, including 2,113 families, in the CDP. The population density was {{convert|2,004.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 2,540 housing units at an average density of {{convert|649.9|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census#2000 census|racial makeup]] of the area was 61.52% White, 19.13% African American, 0.40% Native American, 14.05% Asian, 1.98% from other races, and 2.92% from two or more races.
