However, there was another [[post office]] with that name in the state, so this name could not be used because there was already an extant "Markland, Indiana." The name '''Huntersville''' was then adopted in honor of [[United States House of Representatives|Congress]]man [[Morton C. Hunter]]. The [[population density]] was {{convert|1594.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 436 housing units at an average density of {{convert|807.4|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the town was 99.2% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.1% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.7% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.7% of the population.

[[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.79% of the population.
