==Geography==

Clackamas is part of the [[Portland, Oregon|Portland]] [[Metropolitan area|Metropolitan Area]] and lies approximately {{convert|10|mi}} southeast of downtown Portland and to the east of [[Interstate 205 (Oregon–Washington)|Interstate 205]] along Oregon Routes [[Oregon Route 212|212]] and [[Oregon Route 224|224]] and to the north of the [[Clackamas River]].

==Demographics==
As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 5,177 people, 2,000 households, and 1,336 families residing in the CDP. The population density was {{convert|2,425.3|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 2,133 housing units at an average density of {{convert|999.3|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of the CDP was 85.28% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.08% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.66% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 6.32% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.33% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 2.70% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 3.63% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 5.95% of the population. 22.1% were of [[Germans|German]], 10.8% [[English people|English]], 9.4% [[Irish people|Irish]] and 6.3% [[United States|American]] ancestry according to [[Census 2000]].

There were 2,000 households, out of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.9% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.12.

In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 27.0% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 6.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $44,478, and the median income for a family was $50,607. Males had a median income of $40,614 versus $26,863 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the CDP was $21,672. About 8.2% of families and 9.4% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 12.1% of those under age 18 and 8.6% of those age 65 or over.
