Centertown is located at {{coord|37|25|0|N|86|59|43|W|type:city}} (37.416771, -86.995243).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref>  The city is concentrated along a merged stretch of [[Kentucky Route 69|Kentucky Routes 69]] and [[Kentucky Route 85|85]] northeast of [[Central City, Kentucky|Central City]].  The two highways converge just west of the city, with KY 85 approaching from [[Island, Kentucky|Island]] to the northwest, and diverge just east of the city, with KY 69 continuing eastward to [[Hartford, Kentucky|Hartford]], and KY 85 veering southward to join [[U.S. Route 62|US 62]] near [[Rockport, Kentucky|Rockport]].

The racial makeup of the city was 99.76% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], and 0.24% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.68% of the population.

There were 164 households, out of which 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 14.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.88.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 23.6% under the age of 18, 13.0% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $37,946. Males had a median income of $22,500 versus $18,750 for females.
