As of the [[2020 United States census|2020 census]], the population was 301.<ref>Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, [https://www.tn.gov/ecd/pdf/StateProfile/2011certpop.pdf Certified Population of Tennessee Incorporated Municipalities and Counties] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140630192652/https://www.tn.gov/ecd/pdf/StateProfile/2011certpop.pdf |date=June 30, 2014 }}, State of Tennessee official website, July 14, 2011. Retrieved: December 6, 2013.</ref> ==History== [[Jo Byrns]], who became [[Speaker of the United States House of Representatives|Speaker of the House of Representatives]], was born in Cedar Hill on July 28, 1869. The local elementary school and [[Jo Byrns High School|high school]] are named for him. In the 1940s and 1950s Cedar Hill had a population of about 700, with around 10 stores. The economy was based on services to surrounding farmers; the main crop in the area was [[tobacco]]. By the 1960s, crops were more diversified and more farmers had cars, enabling them to travel to the [[county seat]] of [[Springfield, Tennessee|Springfield]], about nine miles away. Also at about this time, the construction of the Interstate Highway System, namely [[Interstate 24]] and [[Interstate 65]], removed much of Cedar Hill's through traffic. These factors led to a steady decline in population and development, but the area has begun to move forward in a positive direction through community building and revitalization efforts. In 2006, Jo Byrns Elementary School opened in Cedar Hill, serving grade Pre-K to 5.<ref>{{cite web |title=About Us |url=https://jbes.rcstn.net/about_us |website=jbes.rcstn.net |publisher=Robertson County School District |accessdate=September 29, 2020}}</ref> In 2011, Cedar Hill was recognized by โOnly In Your Stateโ as the 9th teeny tiny town in Tennessee that truly make the south a beautiful place to live โ good people call these places home, and they're the kind of people you want to meet. <nowiki>https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/tennessee/visit-tn-small-towns/amp/</nowiki> ==Geography== Cedar Hill is located along [[U.S. Route 41]] in northwestern Robertson County. [[Springfield, Tennessee|Springfield]] lies to the southeast, and [[Adams, Tennessee|Adams]] lies to the northwest. The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency owns the Cedar Hill Swamp WMA site which features early- to late-successional hardwood forest dominated by pin oak and sweetgum that dominate the 200 acres found at Cedar Hill Swamp WMA. A few acres of overgrown fields are found near the entrance. The only remaining swampland is on private property adjacent to the WMA on the opposite side of the CSX railroad tracks.<ref>[https://www.tn.gov/twra/wildlife-management-areas/middle-tennessee-r2/cedar-hill-swamp-wma.html Cedar Hill Swamp WMA]</ref> According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|0.7|sqmi|km2}}, all land. ==Demographics== {{US Census population |1880= 200 |1970= 355 |1980= 420 |1990= 347 |2000= 298 |2010= 314 |2020= 301 |footnote=Sources:<ref name="GR9">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=March 4, 2012|title=Census of Population and Housing: Decennial Censuses}}</ref><ref name=CensusPopEst>{{cite web|title=Incorporated Places and Minor Civil Divisions Datasets: Subcounty Resident Population Estimates: April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2012|url=https://www.census.gov/popest/data/cities/totals/2012/SUB-EST2012.html|work=Population Estimates|publisher=U.S. Census Bureau|accessdate=December 11, 2013|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130611010502/http://www.census.gov/popest/data/cities/totals/2012/SUB-EST2012.html|archivedate=June 11, 2013}}</ref><ref name="USCensusDecennial2020CenPopScriptOnly">{{cite web|url=https://api.census.gov/data/2020/dec/pl?get=P1_001N,NAME&for=place:*&in=state:47&key=5ccd0821c15d9f4520e2dcc0f8d92b2ec9336108|title=Census Population API|publisher=United States Census Bureau|accessdate=October 15, 2022}}</ref> }} ===2020 census=== {| class="wikitable" style="text-align:right" |+Cedar Hill racial composition<ref>{{Cite web|title=Explore Census Data|url=https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table?g=1600000US4711980&tid=DECENNIALPL2020.P2|access-date=December 26, 2021|website=data.census.gov}}</ref> !scope="col"| Race !scope="col"| Number !scope="col"| Percentage |- !scope="row"| [[White (U.S. Census)|White]] (non-Hispanic) | 233 | 77.41% |- !scope="row"| [[African American (U.S. Census)|Black or African American]] (non-Hispanic) | 21 | 6.98% |- !scope="row"| [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]] | 2 | 0.66% |- !scope="row"| [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]] | 2 | 0.66% |- !scope="row"| [[Race (United States Census)|Other/Mixed]] | 18 | 5.98% |- !scope="row"| [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] | 25 | 8.31% |} As of the [[2020 United States census]], there were 301 people, 113 households, and 78 families residing in the city. ===2000 census=== [[File:Jo-Byrns-Elementary-tn1.jpg|thumb|Jo Byrns Elementary School]] As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 298 people, 98 households, and 79 families residing in the city.
